Re: Bashscript ~/.bashrc

Do you ever have need to use script? You might want to remove it or set it non-executable if you never use it.

Another option is to make an alias to something harmless like /bin/false
or maybe...

Re: Realtek Gigabit lan not seen as Gigabit

Just because it identified as 1000Mbit/sec doesn't mean that Realtek is wrong about a performance problem in the official Fedora driver. You still might get more speed if they have an improvement in...

Re: Yum problem with python

yum update -y is not that bad as long as you make sure to pre-check what will happen witih
It might help to reinstall krb5-libs and maybe krb5-devel packages, that's the only thing I've seen in...

Re: Infinality setup guide

It worked here (I used wget to download the file, then you can install it locally, so I suspect rpm -ivh http://www.infinality.net/fedora/linux/infinality-repo-1.0-1.noarch.rpm should work too )

Re: New install of AdbeRdr9.5.5-1_i486linux_enu.rpm won't Execute

Looks like a plain old Segmentation fault

Re: Persistent NTP connections

The ntp port that's binding to 127.0.0.1 is probably the "Undisciplined Local Clock" as the ntp documentation calls it.

When ntp can't get a good time source, it falls back to the local RTC clock...

Re: [F20] - Latest Kernel Release is Unbootable

Of course, use "yum check-update" to see the list of all updates, then use

yum update <packagename here>

to pick the packages individually, another good option is to install yumex and use that.

Re: New install of AdbeRdr9.5.5-1_i486linux_enu.rpm won't Execute

These instructions are for Fedora 19 but work for 20 also

regarding the huge strace output file, the error of interest is probably...

Re: arm-linux-gnu-g++ can not compile source using STL.

Some of the STL is header only, I think there might be a option that the arm compiler has that would let you point to your existing STL h files that come with the usual gcc

Re: Fonts in Firefox

That gives me a great idea for a Firefox plugin, why not auto look up and display common acronyms when the mouse hovers over them. Of course "Context Search" plugin pretty much does that already.

Re: arm-linux-gnu-g++ can not compile source using STL.

When I run "yum info gcc-c++-arm-linux-gnu" I see the cryptic statement at the end:

Maybe this means there is no STL support for ARM under Fedora? The only other way I can interpret it is like...

What internet apps do you use that are slow to load sites?

One thing different about Fedora is it really tries to automatically set up any IPV6 interface it can find.
I'm not sure if Ubuntu does...

Re: While trying to get ssh going, getting "Cannot retrieve metalink from repository"

I disagree it would be really difficult, he'd just need a computer with working networking, then download the yum rpm file with wget or similar, transfer the file
somehow (usb key or local network)...

Re: Why is systemd set to retain such old /var/tmp/systemd-* dirs?

I think the difference might be that I turn on the...

Why is systemd set to retain such old /var/tmp/systemd-* dirs?

I just updated the systemd package which contains the /usr/lib/tmpfiles.d/tmp.conf which I
think tells it how to age out files in /var/tmp

I see that I have a lot of rather old directories in...

Woudn't that be impossible? I think in safe-mode all extensions AND plugins (including flash) would be disabled and not loaded
