Re: Try try try again f20/f21 install 32bit

The /etc/modprobe.conf file location isn't used in Fedora, it's obsolete, now you'd tend to put that in :

echo "options snd-hda-intel model=auto" >> /etc/modprobe.d/snd-hda-intel.conf

Re: fc-cache and yum lock up rendering computer useless

Be really careful with asterisk, this:

Re: Convince me to stay with F21

I suppose you're using gnome-software for that updater? I just took a look at that and I'm not impressed. It gives information that's
misleading, for example when I looked at the software...

Re: problems with eclipse luna (no source folder, can't start a new Java project)

I never had much luck installing the Eclipse you get from the repositories. I think it's because it's an outside of Fedora project and it's a really complicated software.

I'd suggest you get the...

Re: Oracle VirtualBox installation script

I use code like this to get fancy so I don't have to edit the script as the user updates by putting a new source file in with the script, I assume the usage mode is that the new file(s) are put in...

Re: Yum Update and Java is Dead ... Again. *sigh*

That's wrong, you've shown you've got your alternatives set up so they're supposed to be for OpenJDK but the above vdir shows /usr/bin/java pointing to the /usr/java/default/bin/java link (which...

Re: Yum Update and Java is Dead ... Again. *sigh*

The /etc/alternatives directory and the command itself is part of the chkconfig package, is it installed correctly?

rpm -q --verify chkconfig

should confirm the package is installed at all and...

Re: Yum Update and Java is Dead ... Again. *sigh*

That's weird because I always thought that the 'alternatives' command actually makes that link, that is

should create a link from /usr/bin/java to /etc/alternatives/java and then...

Does java show at all ?
The links you are talking about seems to be the alternatives links, you can check them with:
(the grep -v slave part strips off the junk about slaves that isn't useful)
