Pokemon go and images

I was reading people are running playing this even in private places like their homes. I would if this is a dastardly devious plan by a certain large search firm to get map images from places they...

I did the full dnf-plugin-system-upgrade which downloaded all the rpms for Fedora 24 but I didn't get around to doing the dnf upgrade from 23 to 24. It's been weeks and those packages are all old....

Re: No BOOT window appears - starts directly Fedora

Yeah, don't do that, /proc is filled with files that are really memory mapped into the kernel, so "/proc/cmdline" shows the string the kernel booted with but it's meaningless to edit that, it's "too...

Re: No BOOT window appears - starts directly Fedora

I removed my post before I saw your reply, I think "hiddenmenu" is legacy grub only thing. In grub2 I've read you use GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT

does this ubuntu thread (but it looks useful to Fedora...

Re: Desktop Effects Gone in KDE?

Maybe look in
System Settings -> Hardware -> Display and Monitor -> Compositor

I have the Rendering backend as 'OpenGL 3.1' and interface as GLX
and "Enable compositor on startup" checked

Re: Desktop Effects Gone in KDE?

In Desktop effects, there is no single checkbox to enable/disable desktop effects, it seems you just (un)check the individual effects

wow, last KDE update is fast

KDE's been fast for a long time but somehow the last update I just did tonight is really smooth and fast. Was there something in particular improved?

Re: Display not detected correctly in F24

I'd run the xrandr command, it will show the resolutions X thinks it can use
The current res is flagged with an asterisk.

You can select a resolution with the -s # option, picking the index...

Re: Could someone please point me to a list of computers that readily run fedora?

I would think Red Hat might have some kind of approved list for Red Hat Enterprise (RHEL), if it works for RHEL then it's going to work with Fedora

Re: Add Kernel boot parametars

No, he had the wrong path to the file (don't put the "2" on the grub2.cfg but on the directory name), try:
There is no such directory "/boot/grub/" in Fedora 24, it's now "/boot/grub2" now that the...

Re: UPS is not recognized with F24

You might want to look into this, this is recently in updates-testing

dnf check-update --enablerepo=updates-testing

Not much really sticks out in the changelog

Re: I am a spare parts and trash collector.

I've tried those not for profit recycling cos, they sound good but in practical terms I've never gotten them to work. Here in MD, they usually just want big corporate customers.

I gave up on them...

If you're going to use that XP (that is not overwrite it and install Linux or your own OS) the ethical thing would be to delete the
C:\Documents and Settings\{user} directory where 'user' was that...

Your test file in post 1 compiles just fine here and runs too:

$ cat test.cc

#include <math.h>
#include <iostream>
using namespace std;

int main (int argc, char *argv[])...

servo browser alpha on Fedora

I was trying the servo nightly from https://servo.org/

I...

Re: Run a cronjob every second week. A Challenge

One idea is to get the posix time in seconds w. date +%s, then divide that by the number of seconds per day(86400).
This is the number of days since 1/1/1970, so call that the "posix date number"...

Re: F24 KDE plasma - shutdown hangs for minutes

I would think it would be informative to see if KDE is really involved. Try using "logout" to leave KDE instead of "shutdown" so you get to the sddm / kdm / gdm login page. If that's quick then KDE...

then manually delete all the /var/log files that have the date labels in the names

Or to globally change the behavior of logrotate, you could...
