Re: Help with DNF installations

The problem is that "akmod-VirtualBox" is just one part of VirtualBox, you need all of either of these pairs of packages:
(all from the rpmfusion repos)

for "akmod" (these two):
for "kmod" these...

Re: change dnf.conf settings

My answer wasn't to imply you can't make a script to do it the fancy way. I might give it a try and post it later

Re: change dnf.conf settings

Command line arguments 'trump'/override the file settings, so just do this

/etc/dnf/dnf.conf

Re: fedora 22 newly installed

Most (all?) Fedora desktop environments have a power manager, try going into the power manager settings and increase the default brightness setting.

Re: I want play sound when run KDE in console mode

Interesting, on my Fedora 22 tower/desktop, the music doesn't even stop while I'm typing in the username and password into the virtual terminal

Re: Fedora 22 checksum not passing?

A give away that sha256sum is in use is that the sum string is much longer, 64 chars for sha256sum vs 40 for sha1sum

Re: I want play sound when run KDE in console mode

I don't think Selinux is at fault here,

I was able to get pulseaudio/alsa to keep playing from KDE (playing a song via Firefox on youtube) to a virtual console (Cntl+Alt+F3 -> tty3 and...

Re: dnf 1.0.2 soon

That's the way it was supposed to work but in my experience with older dnf's it would still show different updates than 'yum-deprecated'
even after I did a --refresh (I had to use the "nuclear"...

Re: Kernel update for server? pointless

RedHat has "kpatch", SUSE implemented "kGraft", the video in this post
covers kpatch.

Re: Kernel update for server? pointless

That doesn't have to be the case, /etc/default/grub can be setup so that as kernel updates occur the
default still points to a particular kernel and is only moved forward to the new one by manually...

Re: dnf 1.0.2 soon

I just updated to this from updates-testing, it's working well so far.
I'm curious about how it does with the long time dnf alzheimers problem (dnf not finding updates for a long time)

Re: why auto deleted files from /usr/share/applications/ ?

We should probably clear up what "sublime text" is, it seems to be an editor that's not part of the Fedora package set but an editor you'd install in Fedora via a "tarball' file downloaded from...

Re: Install KDE5 on Fedora22

KDE5 is a standard part of Fedora 22, you don't need that copr for it.
Since KDE is a big set of packages, it's managed as a group, so install it by finding out its name with:

you'll see it's...

You can use "du" to show the disk usage of each subdirectory in a directory, I use this bash function below
a lot since it takes each summed up subdirectory size and then sorts them in order

Re: Verify fedora download: gpg: can't open `8E1431D5-CHECKSUM'

Yes, that's it
The 1 listed file missing is just that the one iso file of the two listed in the CHECKSUM file wasn't in the local directory when sha256sum looked for it. That's expected and okay....

Re: Verify fedora download: gpg: can't open `8E1431D5-CHECKSUM'

Also remember that when you type "su -" to become root, "su -" has the default behavior of changing the directory to the home directory of the user you switch to.

In the case of root, that home...

Just do this:
or being more specific if you got 64bit workstation for...
