I recently bought an Actiontec 56k External Modem, due to my previous modem being a Conexant Winmodem, and therefore not working in Linux, despite my driver downloads and whatnot (which caused Fedora to lockup and not boot properly until removing the defective hardware). This modem is suppoed to work in Linux, and I imagine it does, except for one small problem: I don't have a serial port. I don't know how this escaped my eyes, but I don't have one. However, since the modem is Serial/USB, I don't suppose I could use the USB portion until I get my hands on a serial PCI card? I 'mucked' around a bit, and by mucked, I don't mean I dove into any files, I'm new to Linux, not ready for that without help from my buddies. I just fiddled around the Network app and wasn't able to get it to work. I don't suppose this is possible to do, or will I just have to wait for the PCI card?
