Gnome using audacious to open Places menu items?

Howdy. Running Fedora 9 x86_64, liva repo enabled. Everything updated.

When I try to select an item from the Places menu in Gnome, like Home or Documents or Pictures, instead of opening that folder in nautilus, audacious is opened (even if it isn't running) and either starts playing music (with my entire library in the playlist) or opens a file finder dialog.

Any idea how this got started, and then how to fix it?

There are a couple of threads dealing with this, but with different apps being opened (VLC, for one) I haven't checked them to see if the problem is solved. Here's one you can look at:

Found my problem after recursively grepping my entire home dir.

The file ~/.local/share/applications/mimeapps.list contained these lines, and ONLY these lines:

[Added Associations]
inode/directory=fedora-audacious.desktop;

I renamed this file with a .bak suffix, and voila things worked as expected. I have no idea what created this file or added that association, what is to stop it from happening again.
