Kernel 2.6.34 breaks uPnP DLNA

I'm not sure what changed but when I recently upgraded via yum to Kernel 2.6.34 none of my uPnP or DLNA apps show up on my tvs (Sony TV and PS3). Booting an older version, i.e. 2.6.33 solves the problem with no other changes. I use MediaTomb, MythTV uPNP server and Serviio. All work fine except with the newest kernel.

Any ideas what changed?

I've made a little progress in noting that if I disable iptables (via /sbin/service iptables stop) I can at least see the servers and use them for a little while, but it seems like they disappear in a little while.

Hi,

No cure but I am having the same issue.

I just upgraded the RAM on my motherboard and when I rebooted it does not find Mediatomb unless I restart mediatomb.
I am guessing that I probably jumped up a Kernel version or two as I have my pc on 24/7.
I am now running 2.6.35.10-74.fc14.x86_64.
MediaTomb UPnP Server version 0.12.1
Playstation slim system software 3.56

In the playstation when you search for media servers it will not find it but if I restart mediatomb it appears in the menu within seconds.

Just an update,

Tried to use Mediatomb from my laptop with Totem and the server would not show up.
Totem could see my Western Digital MyBookWorld server.

When I SSHed into the main system and restarted MediaTomb I could then access the media.

MediaTomb working fine here with a LaCie LaCinema MiniHD Connect... Kernel is 2.6.35.10-74.fc14.i686

I hope that will help me narrow down the problem.

I think I am going to take a look at the upnp spec to see how the media players find the server and then fire up wireshark to see if I can see anything.

Yes, you should be able to trace SSDP packets being exchanged on 239.255.255.250 UDP

Hi,

Looks like a network configuration problem.
My motherboard has 2x Gigabit ethernet ports eth0 and eth1.
Mediatomb runs on eth1.

If eth0 is also enabled mediatomb is not seen by the PS3.
If eth0 is disabled mediatomb can be seen.

I am not a network expert, but isn't it a problem to have 2 NICs on the same computer on the same subnet (search `Subnets and two NICs in one computer')?
