FC5 vs FC9

Hi there

I bought a HP Slimline S3400f computer...

and I compared to FC5 and FC9 64 bit versions

when I do a hdparm -T /dev/sda in FC5 I get :

5152 mb in 2.00 seconds = 2577.49 MB/sec

and when I do a test in FC9 I get :

2577 mb in 2.00 seconds = 1400.00 MB/sec

Why is that in Fedora Core 9 I get slower speed?

I would like to install Fedora Core 5 but it doesn't detect the intergrated Lan card

So I would have to install FC9 to make the lan card work..

Why FC5 ? ( it's been unsupported for a couple of years )
