VNC issues: Possibly Firewall related?

Hi, I hope this is the right place to post this.

I've got FC9 installed and need to be able to VNC into it.

I've setup the remote desktop options as per the instructions on Fedoraguide , set the port it comes in on as 5900 and have also setup port forwarding on my router so port 5900 forwards to the IP of the FC9 PC which is static. I am accessing it from another PC (running XP and VNC viewer) on the same network. However, I am unable to access it this way. On previous installations of Fedora this has worked with no issues (thought this was a long time ago, FC4 I think!). The only thing I can think of that maybe causing issues is the firewall on the FC9 PC. I've added 5900 as a trusted tcp/udp port in iptables using the gui but I still am unable to get onto the PC.

Can anyone tell me how I can resolve this please? I'd be very grateful!

Did you do this?

sudo /sbin/chkconfig --level 35 vncserver on
sudo /sbin/chkconfig --list vncserver
vncserver       0:off   1:off   2:off   3:on    4:off   5:on    6:off

Start vncserver.

vncserver

You should see this:

You will require a password to access your desktops.

Password:
Verify:
xauth:  creating new authority file /home/eric/.Xauthority

New 'slowhand:1 (eric)' desktop is slowhand:1

Creating default startup script /home/eric/.vnc/xstartup
Starting applications specified in /home/eric/.vnc/xstartup

Is there any reason you could config it in the gui in previous versions but not now?

No idea. The info that I gave you is based on what I found out when I was trying to set up VNC. Google searches, Fedora Forum threads, etc.

Solved it a different way. Checked the services running and set vncserver to run on startup. That seems to have fixed it.
