I'd poke around this forum first. Booting issues are one of the most often discussed subjects. There's a ton of info here for anyone that wants to take the time to search.
When you boot with the rescue disk does it find your filesystems? Sounds like someone posting above here is on the right track, did you chroot before attempting to run grub-install?
