fedora core 4 is no longer supported.

your only chance can be to download the source-code,compile it and build it yourself.
http://www.opengl.org/sdk/

or you could upgrade to fedora10 or fedora11 beta...http://fedoraproject.org/

you may get opengl3 with fedora10 and opengl3.1 with fedora11

And hope that the video driver that you have can actually use it and that installing it does not break some other sub-system.

yeah, though this is my build machine - I'm building a plugin for several different versions of maya (www.autodesk.com), which all have different versions of linux recommended (as they vary in age) - fc4 seems to build a version that works for all of them.

I'm concerned that if I upgrade my build machine's linux, I will no longer be able to build for older versions ..

(I'm kind of a linux idiot, it's just one of many platforms we support)

It may be that it's a compiler version that is allowing those plug-ins to build and work possibly the same that maya it's self was built with but that is just speculation on my part but if that is the case you can use an older version of gcc with newer distros but all of there packages will have been built with a newer version as well but OpenGL 2.0 will be available so may be introducing more problems.I would do some more research on this if i where in your shoes ATM such as why Fc4 does the job while others don't you may be a Linux idiot now but i have a feeling that will change as you dig deeper

yeah, I think I'm going to leave the build VM alone (fc4) and make an fc10 VM for testing the binary.

thanks
