How do i turn off password lockouts?

I'm having some ldap & sso issues and need to turn of failed attempts=3 in /etc/pam.d/system-auth file. I don't want to just delete that line. what would be the best method?

Ya .. I figured it would be something like that. I'll give it a try and hopefully won't hurt myself

I think /etc/login.defs might have issues too..... we'll see.
