Fedora 11 on iMac 8,1

Hello,

I got in my hands a 24" Intel Core 2 duo iMac with no OS from an employee who left the company and I tried installing Fedora 11 but it seems that grub cannot read anything from GPT. Its been 2 days I am reading in forums etc but I cant get it to work. I dont want to dual boot with os x, just fedora 11.
The x86_64 live cd starts fine, the installation goes fine but when it boots it shows the grey envelope with the question mark. I tried installing grub both in mbr and /dev/sda1 but no luck.
Then I tried with the dvd iso and the same thing happened. Installation went fine, but it cannot boot. I tried ubuntu 9.04 x64 just to see I could get it installed and it works out of the box. I am a fedora evangelist though, I cant deal with ubuntu

I was reading in some forums that they were installing Mint with ubuntu grub?

Does anyone know how to overcome this issue?

Thanks,

Adam

What did the trick was ext3

Use custom layout for the partition scheme and select ext3 for the root partition.

The I rebooted in rescue mode and reinstalled grub and it booted. It works fine for two qeeks now.

I think it has something to do with grub and GPT
