Annoying new KDE stuff

OK so I am still battling the "new" and improved KDE, on my new F11 box.
Some good stuff, but too much change, lots of which does not work (yet).
The whole "activity" thing is mysterious, especially since I cannot seem to get it to work.
I just want to have different images for my different desktops,,,,,, sooo complicated.

Here's my question of the day.....

what is this annoying "system monitor" like thing in the upper right of my screen, and how do I get rid of it ?????? (See attached !!) I can't kill it, I don't even know what it is called !!

It's really starting to bug me !!

!!!???

Seems like a video driver issue. Try to disable desktop effects in System settings so that compositing (transparency) is turned off. I have a lot of problems when I turn it on on my laptop (BTW: I have an Intel video card).

Regards,
Ivan

Thanks for the hint

When I disabled effects it disappered.
I tracked it down to the "Show FPS" Effect under the Tools section.

Disabled that and it disappered.

Thanks again !!!

Peter

All those are widgets, just right click the KDE desktop, click "unlock widgets" then go to the
plasma widget you want to remove and when the mouse is over it the widget tab will show on the side.
Click the "X" and it's gone.

Right click again and pick "Lock Widgets" since you usually don't want them unlocked.

Thanks for the info. The new KDE stuff sure is confusing. I have been a KDE fan for years, this last update
is pretty drastic. Can anyone really explain the "activity" thing and how to get different wallpapers on different desktops. I have fiddled with it but the activity thing seems to be broken.

Peter
