Should I buy a Nvidia GeForce 5200 ?

I have a local seller who is selling a Nvidia GeForce 5200 128MB AGP 8x for about $10. Should I buy it?

The box that I'm planning to get this for has an Intel 865GBF motherboard. It has a AGP 8x slot. I'm presently using the onboard graphics on that box.

I don't do graphics intensive stuff like movie editing or playing games but would like to have smooth HD video playback. With my Intel 865GBF, I don't get that.

Will the GeForce 5200 be able to playback HD content?

I have that video card and it can be a little slow for some HD (1280x720) videos. But for 10 dollars, I bought it 6 years ago for 100 dollars....

Well it's better than onboard graphics.

why it is a $10 paper weight
if you have a OLD system it will work on as a "upgrade" then go for it
ro spend $50 to 80 on a new card

I wouldn't spend 50-80 dollars on anything for that computer. I would think more about upgrading the whole system. AGP is a little old

I have the same card. Well, I think it can't do any hardware acceleration. So your cpu will work with hd videos. In my pc 720p videos play well, but full hd is not work.

Well, I bought the 5200. Should be here in the next few days.
I've never used my AGP slot. Let's hope it works!

Received the 5200 today.
I'm able to view 720p videos with mplayer using the 'xv' output driver.
I never tested the 865 with 'xv'. You think it might have worked?

I recently purchased a cheap nVidia 5200 and I can't get it out of "performance mode 0". I even tried all the registry switches listed here. and elsewhere.

I put it in an old 1ghz P3, hoping that I could playback youtube resolution videos but it can't do it. I seem to remember much better performance with an older nVidia card I had in there at one time.

I really couldn't tell much difference between between playback when using the "nvidia", "nouveau" or "nv" drivers.

Either I got a bum card, the card sux or my old 1ghz P3 is just too slow (which I don't think it is).
