Mkv converter for my linux machine

I am running my fedora box as a media server and my xbox (sorry) doesn't see mkv files and I have been looking for a while for a way to convert the mkv files to any format readable any ideas?

See if that helps. (It also assumes, if you use Fedora, that you're using rpmfusion's site with various proprietary codecs.).

It also has a link to an article on doing it with vlc.

thanks looking into it I thought I could find a Gui version oh well command line it is

Check the links, I think the vlc article would be dealing with GUIs. (I know, too lazy to check links on my own page, but....)
