Amarok, and vlc crash X after FC14 upgrade.

I seem to be having an odd issue with many media apps after upgrading to Fedora 14.

The upgrade was preformed from fc13 to fc14, via the in place "preupgrade" package.

All of the mentioned apps worked flawlessly under FC13 before the upgrade.

I am using an Nvidia graphics card, and i'm running nvidia's graphics driver version x86_64 260.19.21 (downloaded this past Friday from Nvidia's site as this was on my my first suspects).

    The issue:

When I open amarok, or vlc (the only two app's i've noticed this issue with) X crashes. I'm dropped to a black screen, and then shortly presented with my graphical login.

The Xorg log reports a core dump. I'll need to cause the issue again before i can copy the log though. I didnt save it, and none of my current logs seem to contain the dump.

Is anyone else having this issue? Any suggestions?

I'll add that log as soon as its convenient to crash my X session.

As promised here are my logs, I started a tail -f from another machine which i ssh'd into this box from.

This is the log, from the moment it crashed, until my login was displayed again.

Re: Amarok, and vlc crash X after FC14 upgrade.

I'm having trouble with VLC but not in the same manner, as I only get the app crashing. Something in the vlc-core is what is reported in the error(s). As for Amarok, I don't use it so I can't comment on it.

I have been told that there is a new version of VLC on its way & hopefully that will fix it. Not sure on Amarok. Here's to hoping that they will BOTH be fixed, soon.

Re: Amarok, and vlc crash X after FC14 upgrade.

    I found a solution.

    This other topic:
    http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=254216
Lead me to this bug report:
    https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=649526
Which lead me to this set of patched rpm's.
    http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/b...buildID=204393

This was caused by an issue with xorg, and xinerama.

I run a system with 2 video cards, displaying to 4 monitors. So xinerama is necessary. I would have posted this earlier, as i fixed it hours ago, but for some reason this thread was not viewable to me when i fixed it.
