Manual tray reverts to Tray 1 for print page 2?

I am having troubles with my printer.

I have to use the manual feed, as the tray jams.

When set to manual feed, it prints fine in B&W and color.

However, page 2 goes from manual to tray 1! One page at a time works great.

Any ideas? Bad driver?

FC 13, recent install, Dell 3100 cn printer USB.

Try changing your printer settings, set paper source from auto select to mpf. I got 3110cn but I don't think manual feed tray is called any different on 3100cn's options.

Re: Manual tray reverts to Tray 1 for print page 2?

You mean in the printer itself? Not in the /etc/cups/printer.conf ?

Is there a way to set the default to the manual tray in software?

If I go to options when I print, I can set manual tray as the option and it stays that way the next time I print, it just decides to switch to tray 1 for page 2...

Thanks!

Could do from the printer itself I guess but I meant in the CUPS configuration. You should have the printer configuration application in the administration menus where you can set it as well.

Re: Manual tray reverts to Tray 1 for print page 2?

I have the same situation with a Brother HL2070N laser printer. First page of address labels prints fine, then it prints the succeeding pages from the regular paper tray. Can't find any obvious printer or CUPS option to keep it in manual mode. Next I'll try pulling out the paper tray to see if it will wait for manual feed. Even if there is an option to set manual feed in CUPS, it's not clear how one would tell CUPS that the new page of paper was positioned and ready to print. Note: setting manual feed in the printer itself (via html interface) makes no difference. If someone has a solution to this, it would be great. Editing my address label file to print one page at a time is a drag!

Re: Manual tray reverts to Tray 1 for print page 2?

Well, this is a bit of a kluge, but I have a way to print my address labels using manual feed.
First, set the printer to manual feed and fit a sheet of labels into it.
Then run the label-generator program in a bash script and pipe the output to
"lpr -o page-ranges $1"
You repeatedly run the script with command line args of 1, then 2, then 3, etc. "lpr" will
only print the selected page, and you have time to put a new manual-feed page into
the printer between printings.
Hey, it ain't pretty, but it works !!! :-)
