Mp3

Hi,

I've recently taken the plunge and have installed Fedora 15 KDE x64 after previously using Windows 7. I've done some googling and have discovered there is no out of the box support. I've tried some of the fixes I found on the net, but they don't seem to have worked, as I'm still unable to play MP3s.

Another issue I've found (and suspect it's related to Fedora's inability to play MP3s) is that when copying files from Fedora to my MP3 player, the songs don't play right. Instead, most tracks have not been transferred (despite the files appearing on the PC) and those that do have been mis-mashed together - tracks have been stuck together, with it randomly changing song halfway through the track but not changing track name number artist album etc etc.

Re: Mp3

How are you trying to play the mp3s? If you are using amarok which is part of KDE you need to install xine-libs-extras-freeworld from rpmfusion. Look at the guide link in my signature.
Another alternative would have been to use Kororaa, it is a Fedora spin with all the codecs included. Link in my signature.

Sorry can't help with the other problem.

Re: Mp3

i think you need to install the codecs... the easier way to do it is by easylife
after you install it run it and just check the box next to codecs and that will do it to you.

Re: Mp3

As another way of getting mp3 support, try looking at the links from the yellow "Set-up guides" at the top of this page.

What method have you used to transfer music files to your player?

Re: Mp3

When removing removable media, you should ideally right click on the drive icon on desktop or the file manager and click safely remove drive, as you would in windows.

That's a very old link. Use the newer guides in the Setup Guides on the menu of the forum, one of which is what I linked to above.
