ISPconfig

Hello everyone,

Trying to set up a working mail server (no relay) on my F15 box. I installed the server from scratch following this tutorial:
http://www.howtoforge.com/perfect-se...64-ispconfig-2

I offcourse want to host my own site (http://www.jaccoermers.nl) and have my own email (info@jaccoermers.nl)

What are the steps now? I created a client (myself) in ISPconfig.
My DNS registrar looks like this:
(http://transip.nl)
Code:
jaccoermers.nl:
  • @ 1 day A 86.93.192.97
  • @ 1 day MX 10 mail.jaccoermers.nl.
  • ftp 1 day CNAME @
  • mail 1 day CNAME @
  • server 1 day CNAME @
  • www 1 day CNAME @
If I try to create a website in ISPconfig I get:
Quote:
The name www.jaccoermers.nl is already in use by another site or domain.
Where to go from here??

Re: ISPconfig

It appears you used the ispconfig-2 tutorial which is "older" but still supported. However, mail is not as flexible as in ispconfig3, the ispc2 mail setup requires linux users per mailbox, ispc3 uses virtual users from a mysql db.. There is an ispconfig help forum at howtoforge.com.

Anyway, I haven't used ispc2 for a few years, but the message indicates you may already have a website set up for the domain name in question.

Re: ISPconfig

I have 1 registered domain so far and 2 physical users on my server.

My domainname is forwarded to my server by my registrar.

My main goal for installing ISPconfig was so it would sort out my DNS settings. I have no problem having my website running under this server but I want to set up mail.

Zarafa has a beautiful and very handy interface which intergrates into everything. I want to be able to expand the number of users that can send and receive mail.

Because zarafa also has a push application I don't want to use fetchmail. Fetchmail uses a small delay (whatever you set the daemon for)

Re: ISPconfig

I am very happy with ispconfig3 (not 2) mail server, in fact I've moved a couple hosted email domains to an in-house server. The server is set up with postfix / dovecot imap / amavisd & clamav for virus scan / spam filtering and is configured so all mail domains and users are virtual via mysql. You can have a hundred mailboxes on a domain but only need one actual linux user account on the server.

I don't know zarafa.

Re: ISPconfig

I really do enjoy zarafa!! Has push function, outlook intergration and everything. Sleek web-interface too.

Ok, so I may consider ISPconfig 3... This will run on my server which has offcourse already one domain name pointing to it. Can I still add that domain as a "New Site"?

By now I added a domain name. So now there are 2.

I know how to do this http virtual hosts, but guessing I shouldn't?

How should I set this up?

domainname1
|---->domainname2
|---->domainname3

or can I do:
server (no domainname)
|--->domainname1
|--->domainname2
|--->domainname3

---------- Post added at 11:50 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:05 AM ----------

My main concern is probably the postfix main.cf

How do I set this up to receive mail from
xxx@domainname1
and
xxx@domainname2
