Issues running Fed 16 LXDE on an acer aspire

Hello Fedora Community, I am hoping that you folk can help, I have two problems the first is quite simple.

I am running an Acer Timeline X 4820T with Fedora 16 64bit LXDE and for the life of me I can't find the setting or conf file to turn tapping on the touchpad on. if you could point me in the right direction that would be super.

The second issue on the same laptop is that the function keys for volume and screen brightness are not working, along the same lines I can't find a setting to change the screen brightness on the admin or pref areas.

Any help would be great.

Rasputin

Edit : for some reason I can't change the title so it makes more sense, maybe a Mod could. thanks again.

Hmm weird, on both machines i had no issues with the touchpad, it recognized them well and installed synaptic automaticly.
About the FN keys, you might need to edit this file: $HOME/.config/openbox/lxde-rc.xml

Hope this helps.

Thank you,
I'll have a look once I get home to see if synaptic is installed and if not install it, be prepared for another post from me about the $HOME/.config/openbox/lxde-rc.xml if I can't find anything about it on-line.

Re: Issues running Fed 16 LXDE on an acer aspire

I'm not an expert but I made a file /etc/X11/xorg.d/10-synaptics.conf like so:

Code:
Section "InputClass"
   Identifier "touchpad catchall"
   Driver "synaptics"
   MatchIsTouchpad "on"
   Option "SHMConfig" "on"
   Option "TapButton1" "1"

   #Option "VertTwoFingerScroll" "true"
   #Option "PalmDetect" "1"
   #Option "PalmMinWidth" "10"
   #Option "PalmMinZ" "200"
   #Option "CircularScrolling" "1"
   #Option "CircScrollTrigger" "6"
   #Option "VertEdgeScroll" "0"
   #Option "HorizEdgeScroll" "0"
   #Option "MinSpeed" "0.60"
   #Option "MaxSpeed" "1.10"
   #Option "AccelFactor" "0.030"
   #Option "LeftEdge" "960"
   #Option "RightEdge" "5973"
   #Option "TopEdge" "705"
   #Option "BottomEdge" "5330"
   #Option "FingerLow" "25"
   #Option "FingerHigh" "39"
EndSection
I've commented out the unnecessary values I use in addition to what you want. If you decide to use any of those you cna work out the geometry and tap pressure (Z) using the command synclient -m 100. You can also experiment on the fly using for example synclient TapButton1=1
