"animate.sty" package in Fedora 16?
Hello everybody.
I just realized that when I try to compile a Latex presentation I've been working on using different computers, the compiler complains of the missing "animate.sty" package in my F16 x86_64.
Obviously the "animate" package is not available in the default Latex installation (the one obtained by installing Texmaker first), is it available in another package within the repositories?, or am I bound to "hack" the Tex installation by installing it by hand?
Thanks,
Joe.

Re: "animate.sty" package in Fedora 16?
If you're using jnovy's TeX Live 2011 packages for Fedora 16, then yes, there is an animate package. Go to http://jnovy.fedorapeople.org/texlive/packages.fc16 and scroll down to see the following packages, which you can download from that page:
texlive-animate-2011-8.svn24901.noarch.rpm 15-Jan-2012 14:36 27K
texlive-animate-doc-2011-8.svn24901.noarch.rpm 15-Jan-2012 14:36 2.7M
If you're using the default TeX Live 2007 packages for Fedora 16, then you may be out of luck. I really think that in Fedora you are better off just installing TeX Live from the official iso image file. It helps to avoid a lot of problems, plus it lets you use tlmgr for updating (which is the preferred way).

Right, thank you.
No big deal, I "hacked" the TeX installation back in F14 and F15, shouldn't be too hard with F16. I am usually "lazier" regarding grabbing software from different repos, and prefer to "customize" de default packages.
Just a question, is that about Fedora's philosophy of "animate" not being entirely Open Source, or mere incompetence to include it?
Joe.
