Transmission daemon issue

I'm running F16 64-bit. I installed transmission daemon for some scripting purposes. After installation of the daemon, torrents simply stopped downloading. The torrents would show no peer lists and would remain stuck at 0% @ 0kbps. Once I removed the daemon, everything was fine. I didn't alter any settings during this whole thing. Isn't it possible to run the daemon and the client side by side?
