How do I archive a thread?

Hi All,

Being a newbie, I've been asking a lot of questions as new threads and getting LOTS of help.

In looking at these threads, I find some are Archived but even though I got what I needed from all of them, most are still Open.

I assume Open threads use more resources than Archived ones. However, I can't find any place here in the Forum that explains the Archiving process.

Re: How do I archive a thread?

The Admins archive threads. These threads were created when a version was in Alpha or Beta and it involved discussions on Fedora versions that were still going through the trials prior to release. For instance, you'll see a F17 Discussion Forum that's all about problems and changes to the upcoming release. All F17 issues are posted here.

Once a version becomes Final, we archive the discussions and that Forum and let members talk about their issues in General, Software or Hardware Forums.

Hi Bob,

Thanks for your response.

What concerns me are the problems/questions I post in General, Software or Hardware Forums. As I understand it, once I have a fix for or directions to a solution for whatever problem, I should say so and put Solved in the title. Is there anything else I should do to indicate closure?

The reason I titled this Archive is that when I Search for jeb3121 I find some of my threads Archived.

No, that's all you need to do. And, can you point out an Archived thread? I didn't notice any with a quick scan. (I simply went to our Search Engine > Advanced Search, then plugged your username in and searched Archived. "No results found".

I think you talk about the "thread tools" mark as solved?

If so, that's under Thread Tools, top area - kinda colorful.

Hi Bob,

I just used my name in FedoraForum Search. Here're some:

I gather the "d" makes a difference.
