Wireless led always on (asus k52f)

Hi everyone! this is my first post here so be good with me

I've installed Fedora 16 on my Asus k52f, and i've got this little thing to solve (i fixed some other stuff).
The wireless led of my laptop is always on, even if i shut down the switch (fn+f2 it works fine). I tried to follow a fix that was originally made for ubuntu, to solve the thing, but it didn' t work on Fedora. This is the stuff i found. It' about create these two files, and give the commands:

gedit /etc/acpi/events/asus-wireless-switch

   event=hotkey ATKD 0000005d
action=/etc/acpi/asus-wireless-switch.sh

gedit /etc/acpi/asus-wireless-switch.sh

WLANSTATUS=`cat /sys/class/ieee80211/phy*/rfkill*/state`

test -z $WLANSTATUS && exit 1

echo 1 > /sys/devices/platform/asus_laptop/wlan

sudo chmod +x /etc/acpi/asus-wireless-switch.sh
sudo service acpid restart


anyone have any idea? any solution? Thanks in advance

I'm glad to say that i solved the problem!
The scripts was fine, the only thing to change was the hotkey for buttons fn+f2 in the first file (/etc/acpi/events/asus-wireless-switch ), so i changed from "00000005d" to "button/wlan.*"

I think you mean change /etc/acpi/events/asus-wireless-switch to the following?

event=button/wlan.*
action=/etc/acpi/asus-wireless-switch.sh

That's OK - I figured it out after a while. Your solution is smart work, it's the first Fedora fix I have seen!

Sickman ,I'm glad you could solve the problem
I have an "ASUS k52f" too
you wrote that you have solved another problems
I'm wondering if you had any suspend/hibernate problems or any other kind of problems(e.g graphics support) _ I have an ATI radeon HD 5470 _ do you have the same one ?
could you tell me what problems did you counter on this ASUS(list of problems)
because I moved from using ubuntu to fedora (fedora 15)

Hey sorry for i'm answering only now, but didn' t saw this before...
So Coolroot, i had the suspension/hybernation problem and i found the solution (not mine, i just found it on a thread), but i don't have an ati card, so can't help u bout that!

for suspension/hybernation:

create these two scripts in /etc/pm/sleep.d

1- name it: 20_custom-ehci_hcd

2 - this is to resume wireless after suspend (i need it, for mine, an atheros 9285) name it 30_custom-ath9k

I'm sorry that it took so long for me to answer
but there is bad internet conditions here

I want thank very much Sickman for sharing this solution

suspend is working like a charm after the fix , but hibernate still has a problem when it wakes up, everything gets weird(cursor is a weird box and the system hangs)
the X server should be restarted to solve the issue or maybe there is something wrong with my system

but the real problem now is that the Display manager won't start, and some services fail to start on startup ( cgconfig, vbox services ,wlmproxy and ctrlproxy)

I have to use single user mode then

init 3

then I login and

startx

NOTICE: the startup problem may be caused by something else

any solution or a clue to fix startup/hibernate problems, it's annoying
I think this one is easy to solve, the only thing I need is a clue
