Flash

I am having Flash issues even though the system reports it as properly installed.

The issue best manifests itself on FB. When I want to view a youtube video on FB and click play, I get the message:

Flash Player upgrade required
You must download and install the latest version of the Adobe Flash Player to view this content.

Hitting "Get Flash Player" takes me to the adobe page where I download RPM adobe-release-x86_64-1.0-1.noarch.rpm. I installed it by double-clicking from the Files file browser but FB feed youtube vids still show the same issue. Even after rebooting.

I was wondering if something needs to be set manually withing Firefox to let it know that there is Flash installed.

Thanks

Oh, let me add that videos play fine on the YouTube site. However, Vimeo reports that an Flash upgrade is required.

Re: Flash

I ran the above program and still have an error. I am new to Linux and was wondering if someone could explain the following in somewhat mroe English. This is what I am getting:

Summary:

SELinux is preventing /usr/lib/firefox-3.6/firefox from loading
/usr/lib/flash-plugin/libflashplayer.so which requires text relocation.

Detailed Description:

The firefox application attempted to load
/usr/lib/flash-plugin/libflashplayer.so which requires text relocation. This is
a potential security problem. Most libraries do not need this permission.
Libraries are sometimes coded incorrectly and request this permission. The
SELinux Memory Protection Tests
(http://people.redhat.com/drepper/selinux-mem.html) web page explains how to
remove this requirement. You can configure SELinux temporarily to allow
/usr/lib/flash-plugin/libflashplayer.so to use relocation as a workaround, until
the library is fixed. Please file a bug report.

Allowing Access:

If you trust /usr/lib/flash-plugin/libflashplayer.so to run correctly, you can
change the file context to textrel_shlib_t. "chcon -t textrel_shlib_t
'/usr/lib/flash-plugin/libflashplayer.so'" You must also change the default file
context files on the system in order to preserve them even on a full relabel.
"semanage fcontext -a -t textrel_shlib_t
'/usr/lib/flash-plugin/libflashplayer.so'"

Fix Command:

chcon -t textrel_shlib_t '/usr/lib/flash-plugin/libflashplayer.so'

Re: Flash

The answer and solution to your problem is in the message in plain English.

The solution is marked in red above. I think that should fix it.
