Could anyone tell me how to get around this problem highlighted?
I have got no problem downloading subtitles, yet with downloading programmes.
Thank you.

This forum is intended for Fedora Linux support, not MS Windows.

However, assuming iPlayer is in fact available in Hong Kong, I'd start by checking the firewall settings to make sure RTMPDump can connect through port 10060.

I've tried disabling the firewall (Windows 7). But the error still appears.
I'm using a UK VPN service. Does that matter?

I've followed the instruction of setting up port in Win 7:

Just enter 10060
Still the same error...

Yes, with the use of Firefox FoxyProxy and Tor, I can watch the programs on my browser.

Even with IE (Tor does not apply to it), I can get around it by using BestUKVPN to set up the VPN on my machine and finally manage to watch BBC iplayer programs in IE.

Re: get_iplayer: fail to stream file via RTMP

Hello
the only thing I can think of (if you can download other programmes with get_iplayer, you didn't say) is news programmes are only available until a new one is available so the pid for newsnight 02/04/2012 is still there in the bbc list but the latest newsnight programme is the only one actually available but with a different pid, does that make sense

Maybe I tried another program (not newsnight) but still got the same error:

Please take a look at what I was doing with get_iPlayer.
Thank you.

Re: get_iplayer: fail to stream file via RTMP

Hi
did you try this
Quote:
Using a Web Proxy

* If you are behind a web proxy you can use the following to specify it:

get_iplayer --proxy=http://[username:Password@]<server>:<port>

* All modes other than iphone or http will not work through a web proxy. To make only the meta-data web requests go through the proxy add the --partial-proxy option. This will only work if your network allows direct access to the streaming port (e.g. port 1935).
got this from http://linuxcentre.net/getiplayer/do...%20Web%20Proxy

But I got through the UK network by using the UK VPN.
Is it possible to use the proxy's one (starting with "http://") for my VPN?

Re: get_iplayer: fail to stream file via RTMP

I've never used a proxy so I've no idea how it works but reading the get_iplayer documentation if you use a proxy you have to specify it
Code:
get_iplayer --proxy=http://[username:Password@]<server>:10060 --get 55
