Wifi won't connect after kernel update
I have an Atheros AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter in my system which was working fine with the 3.3.0-8 kernel (32-bit). Yesterday there was a kernel update to 3.3.1-2. Since then the adapter can detect my wireless network but can't authenticate (I'm using WPA2 personal). Today there was another kernel update to 3.3.1-3 and I still have the same problem. Had to revert back to the 3.3.0-8 kernel to get the NIC to work again.
Anyone else having these problems or found any solutions? Thanks in advanced.

Re: Wifi won't connect after kernel update
Thanks for the bugzilla link. Nice to know I'm not the only one.

Re: Wifi won't connect after kernel update
Got the same issue, hopefully a replacement update will come along soon....
Solo2101: thats slightly different, this atheros driver is built into the kernel, whereas the kmod-wl contains the driver for your card.

Re: Wifi won't connect after kernel update
I've been hit by something similar lately, but for me it's weird: sometimes NetworkManager does connect, but can drop the connection after some time with no warning. Anyone else having this?
Anyway, downgrading the kernel helped for now.

My broadcast died after each update. Luckily I maintain a rsynced repositories for work that I can use to fetch the required updated. I would hate to stop updating my kernel but I dread seeing a updated version number flash up in grub.

Re: Wifi won't connect after kernel update
Don't mean to sound like I'm griping too bad, but is anyone working on this? I've been checking the bugzilla report and no signs of real movement. I can't imagine that it's too big a fix as it was working at one time.

Hey all
I've had something slightly different but quite weird too: after the last kernel update, wifi worked without no pb (several hours). Then connection was suddenly lost while I was browsing, and it never worked again. Never!
Downgrading to 3.3.0-4 is just fine for now.
Oh, and thank you Firefexx for the link

I am having the same problem and select the previous kernel in grub when booting.
When can we expect a solution?

Re: Wifi won't connect after kernel update
Kernel 3.3.1-5 obviously didn't fix this bug (810678) -- see https://admin.fedoraproject.org/upda...DORA-2012-5735 and the Bugzilla page for bug 810678 :/

Re: Wifi won't connect after kernel update
The following provided a workaround for me. Hope it can help others...
I have the AR9285 and began experiencing frequent drops while using kernel-3.3.1-3. Once I upgraded to kernel-3.3.1-5, I was flat out unable to connect. Like others I was just constantly prompted to enter the pass-phrase until timeout occurred.
I plugged in via Ethernet and logged onto my router. I noticed that WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) was enabled by default. For those that are unfamiliar with WPS, it simplifies wireless security configuration. It, by no means, provides any security that can't already be enabled manually.
Anyway, I disabled WPS and restarted wireless networking and presto... Wireless was working again.
Hope this helps someone.
NOTE: Don't confuse WPS with WPA (Wi-Fi Protected Access ). By all means leave WPA (or WEP, if you have to) enabled.

Re: Wifi won't connect after kernel update
kernel-3.3.2 contains a provisional fix for ath9k while the kernel devs are working on a long-term solution. Just wait for the Fedora guys to build it and push it to the repo.

Re: Wifi won't connect after kernel update
@lpshark: thanks for the idea. Unfortunately WPS was already disabled on my router, as I don't use it. Don't know if I could / should disable anything on my PCI wifi card... and how to do it
@aleph: thanks for this information... Let's be patient !

I didn't find a WPS option on my router. It has a UPnP option but disabling it didn't help.
