AR 9170 wireless usb adapter help

Hello,
I am new to linux and I need help with wireless usb adapter configuration.
i typed lsusb in terminal and it listed as

Bus 001 Device 003: ID 0cf3:1002 Atheros Communications, Inc. TP-Link TL-WN821N v2 802.11n [Atheros AR9170]

so I installed ar9170 by using su -c 'yum install ar9170-firmware' and it said it installed correctly yet
i could not see wireless option in network

Re: AR 9170 wireless usb adapter help

i had a similar problem resently.
ar9170-firmware does not contain the new carl1970 firmware and that the one i needed.

to see if you have the same problem i had. type in dmesg right after you plugged in the stick.
if firmware not found shows up, chances are you have the same problem.
Code:
$ dmesg
[  142.706194] usb 1-2: firmware not found.
if that is the case simply go to
http://linuxwireless.org/en/users/Drivers/carl9170
get your firmware and copy it as root into /lib/firmware/

worked for me.
