I have to agree that notebookcheck has the most detailed notebook reviews out there. I combine their reviews with others, as well as user opinions from various forums before I make a purchase.
Although I question the quality of Lenovo products ever since the Chinese bought the company from IBM (there are just too many problems with their products as noted on the various forums), they seem to be the most popular amongst vendors that supply linux equipped laptops. I suspect this is due to their very good hardware component compatibility with linux, excellent documentation, and ease of hardware repairs and/or swaps. If the quality improves with the refurbished product line that was just announced today, I would re-consider buying one because they are so linux freindly.
As an example, here are some vendors that supply linux equipped Lenovo Thinkpads.
