F16/KDE poweroff ??

Running 64-bit F16 KDE. Lost my ability to shut the program down from the menu system. I've got to go into Konsole and type 'poweroff' to shut down the system. Can't say what may have caused this problem but am hoping for some quick fixes for the menu shutdown.

Any help appreciated,

Rich

BTW am anxiously awaiting the arrival of F17 KDE. If it's anything like F16 it'll be another winner.

Re: F16/KDE poweroff ??

Does it help if you re-configure using System Settings -> Startup and Shutdown -> Session Management ?
I would try making sure that "Offer shutdown options" is checked.

If it is already set that way, you could (as a desperate bid for sanity) uncheck the option, click Apply, then re-check it and click Apply again.

Thnx, that did seem to fix the problem. Changed all the settings to default and rebooted. Got back the display dialogues when I now shut down. I can't say I remember ever changing anything in that settings whatsoever. . . . anyways it pays to pay attention and check the 'system settings' now and then. Stupid me.

Glad that seems to have fixed it -- I've occasionally seen odd things happen to the settings after updates to the KDE libraries so don't be too quick to blame yourself!
