LDAP Bi-directional password sync

Greetings all,

I have a rather specific question about fedora directory server and bi-directional password syncing to Windows Active Directory R2 2008 64bit . In terms of the linux side syncing to Windows AD, how is this achived when passwords are stored in SSHA or SMD5?

Going from the fedora directory server to Windows AD, is the caveat Fedora having to store the passwords in its directory in clear text?

I understand the password hooks for the windows side, so I am specifically asking about syncing passwords from the Linux side to the Windows AD side over SSL/TLS.
