How install Emerald them manager

Hi.
I want install Emerald for fedora 17 KDE.
In fedora's repo don't exit.
I was install smaragd.
I can't find source download for emerald and just I want install emerald no compiz.

You can't use Emerald without Compiz, and neither are currently in the Fedora repositories.

There might be third-party repositories for it, or you might have to install it from source code.

I'm sure I read somewhere in this forum that Emerald was dead and had been removed from the repos. A forum search will turn up the thread. Why install a dead piece of software when KWin is so much better?

Hiya!

Unfortunately Fedora Uses GNOME 3 which is incompatible with compiz and emerald.

If you would like compiz effects GNOME 3 fallback can utilize compiz or you can install another DE. Try KDE or MATE for compiz. If you do work you can even get compiz to run on XFCE or LXDE.

I run all of these desktops and they all do just what I need them to. Each one is tweaked to what I prefer. MATE utilizes Compiz and Emerald. KDE uses Kwin. XFCE and LXDE use there own Window managers and Window Decorations. And Gnome 3 is also tweaked to my preference. (Heck I have cairo dock starting only when gnome 3 is logged into.) That is one of the beauties of Linux you have choice.
