Choosing sound in FC5 to stop crackling

hi all,

In FC4 there was an option to change sound from Alsa to something else...I can't remember what it was. (I had several choices). Where can I find this in FC5?

Basically, when I play cube (the 3D game) the sound is crackly...the same with neverball

I'm trying to find a way to change the audio so that I can try and fix this very annoying sound problem.
