Pirut: Unable to retrieve software information

I'm using FC5 and trying to use the Add Remove Software function (pirut) but I keep getting the Unable to Retrieve Software Information from the application. I know I have a network connection as I'm using the computer to write this message. Also the Add Remove Software feature worked once about two days ago. Also at which time I was able to use the Software Updater. Has anyone found the problem with this? Is it just a overwhelmed server?

I would like to get my DVD player working and found several articles to getting it working. Some included the following:
http://home.gagme.com/greg/linux/fc5-tips.php#repos
http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=111743

I have not used:
http://www.city-fan.org/tips/YumRepoFromImages
Because I wanted to make sure that this would not stop me from using the Add Remove Software feature in the future.

Any suggetions?
