some application accessing software information?

this morning when I tried to run pup, it gave me a message that said some application was using the software information. After a few tries pup finally got started.

This hasn't happened before, and I didn't have any app open that was installing or uninstalling any packages... so how can i find what was using the software thing, or if i got hacked?

Could be the yum-updatesd thing. Supposedly it's useful in detecting updates, but it has a tendency to lock yum like that.
