www.weather.com animation [SOLVED]

I'm curious if there is a way to view the new map in motion on www.weather.com. Everytime I go to that site and try and view the new maps, it gives me a hand and i click it and go to the adobe website. I have run:

yum install flash-plugin

And reload firefox 2.0.0.3 and looked at aboutlugins and I still see:

Shockwave Flash

File name: libflashplayer.so
Shockwave Flash 7.0 r68

What am I doing wrong? Besides the fact I want to view the MacroSux Virtual Earth on weather.com. Thanks!!

Jim

Hello:
It seems to work here ?
You may need to install the newest flash-plugin Shockwave Flash 9.0 r31
Probably the easiest way to do that, is to grab the rpm from here :
http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get...lease.i386.rpm
and then run
rpm -Uvh

I have already done that. rpm -Uvh flash* and I checked the date on the libflash.so package in /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins and it's showing today's date. But aboutlugins still shows 7.0 whatever. So what am I doing wrong? Thanks for the speedy reply!

Hello Jim:
I am assuming that you logged in as root and then had a successfull
rpm -Uvh flash-plugin-9.0.31.0-release.i386.rpm

If so, then my guess is that since you are running FF 2.0.0.3
you may have to open a terminal and log in as root, then

cd /usr/lib/firefox-2.0.0.3/plugins
and
rm libflashplayer.so [to remove the older one]
then copy over the new version which should be in your /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/ directory
cp /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libflashplayer.so /usr/lib/firefox-2.0.0.3/plugins/

Then restart firefox and hopefully you are good to go.

I forgot that I'm running an odd firefox. It's 2.0.0.3 but i got it from the tar.gz. My FF icon runs ./firefox from inside my home dir. I couldn't find an rpm for FF. I'm assuming I should be installing FF in another fashion. Any tips for that? I did copy the libflash.so to the plugins folder in /home/USER/firefox/plugins It's still showing in aboutlugins as 7.0. Thanks for your help!

then
locate libflashplayer.so
and delete the one's you do not need

THANK YOU!! after I ran the locate I found out that there was another libflashplayer.so file under /home/joltman/.mozilla/plugins. I copied the new .SO file in and restarted FF. It now works a treat!! Thanks so much!
