Migrating from Thuntherbird to Evolution... How?
I've been using Thunderbid for as long as it has been out. I really like it, but for work purposes I'm required to use an Exchange (Outlook) compatible mail client. Evolution is known to be such a program. However since I have so much mail in Thunderbird's format (which in turn is similar to that of Mozilla SeaMonkey which in turn is the same format that was used in Netscape since version 6), so I have mail from way, way back. At any rate, I wonder if there is a way to migrate my mail from Thunderbird to Evolution, any thoughts?

Very possible, they both use the same format for storing mail. I've copied my mailboxes between both programs many times deciding which one fits my needs better and I've always come back to Evolution Locate your 'inbox' and 'sent' boxes and copy them over. I believe they're stored in:
/home/username/.evolution/mail/local
A quick Google will turn up more info.
Edit: I forgot that Evolution also has an import function so just point it at your Thunderbird mailboxes (Import single file) and it should do it automagically.

Best to check which folders you import, I'm just packing my address book and mail boxes before upgrading to F7, and in Seamonkey, thus probably Thunderbird as well, there are two folders each for inbox, sent etc.so you'll ned to open them with text editor or similar to see which actually hads your mail.

At first I assumed they did, but when I tried to simply "copy over" my mailboxes Evo wouldn't "see" them.

good luck with this one....this is a pitfall of email clients..... my advice after loosing my entire mailbox, twice, is to back up everything before you start moving files.
here is a link to the mozilla FAQ that explains what you need to do to migrate to another client:
http://www.mozilla.org/support/thund...html#migration
GOOD LUCK!

Backups go without saying. I won't "move" as such any files, but copy over.
