Cannot play mp3 streams, despite all non-free extras installed

Hi, been having this problem for ages. I have all non-free extras installed for xine and amarok as far as I can tell. Trying to play a a stream from jamendo.com, I get a 'no suitable demux plugin found' in amarok. In xine or mplayer it just doesn't play at all. The only app that plays streams is the mplayer plugin for firefox, which is ok, but you can't jump to the next track, and it always only plays 10 seconds of the first track in the playlist.

Any ideas?

Edit: got it working in xine, but not in amarok.. ah well. Anyone else have a problem with amarok and streaming?

hy,

Follow these instructions and it will be OK:

Code:
yum -y install mplayer mplayer-skins mplayer-fonts mplayerplug-in mplayer-gui

The mplayerplug-in will allow you to see movie trailers from www.apple.com/trailers

To install the codecs for mplayer open termial become root and do the following:

Code:

$ wget ftp://ftp1.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/rele...050412.tar.bz2
This is the codec "essential-20050412.tar.bz2" and it is changing so we should change the code by inserting the latest one from the URL given down
Please note that the version may change and here is the link for the latest codecs."http://www.mplayerhq.hu/design7/dload.html"

In thursday 30 august, this is the name of the codec: "essential-20061022.tar.bz2" so the code is:
wget ftp://ftp1.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/rele...061022.tar.bz2

Then:
$ tar jxvf essential-20050412.tar.bz2
$ mkdir /usr/lib/win32
$ cp essential-20050412/* /usr/lib/win32
_
The other solution is to write all this code:
mkdir /usr/local/lib/codecs/ && cd /usr/local/lib/codecs/ && wget http://www2.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/rel...061022.tar.bz2 && tar -xvjf all* && mv all*/ . && ln -s /usr/local/lib/codecs/ /usr/lib/win32/

Hope it helps

Nope, it hasn't enabled streaming in the other apps...

The only app that will play streaming apart from the internal mplayer firefox plugin is Xine... Surely other apps should work, as they use the xine engine?
