Mounting other Hard Drives

After reinstalling fedora today, I've been trying to get my other hard drives to mount at system start up. Before I included the nofail option, I would keep getting put into emergency mode instead of continuing to the login screen. When I edited fstab before with previous linux installs, I never had any issues.

With previous installations I used something like this:
UUID=<number> /mnt/<driveName> ntfs defaults 0 0

my fstab file currently looks like:
Quote:
/dev/mapper/fedora-root / ext4 defaults 1 2
/dev/mapper/fedora-swap swap swap defaults 0 0
/dev/mapper/fedora-home /home ext4 defaults 1 2
UUID=6e96eece-9f65-428a-ade2-3b1eb9f28951 /boot ext4 defaults 1 2

#main
/dev/sde1 /mnt/main/ ntfs defaults,nofail 0 0

#myStuff
/dev/sdc1 /mnt/myStuff/ ntfs defaults,nofail 0 0

#backup
/dev/sdd1 /mnt/backup/ ntfs defaults,nofail 0 0
I've also tried UUID=<number>, /media/user/<driveName>/, <driveName>, and ntfs-3g

When I do mount -a, the drives will mount

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong

Re: Mounting other Hard Drives

Although I am not 100% sure, I reckon the /dev/sN device names do change after reboots.
Someone at some point in time about 10 years ago, decided to unanimously re-create device names at bootup, and they may come up totally random. So, you are better off using blkid /dev/sde1 .... etc , to find the UUID's, and putting those UUID's into the /etc/fstab

I gave it another shot,
blkid
UUID=<number> /<name> ntfs defaults,nofail 0 0

but it still didn't mount.

maybe the ntfs kernel driver loads after the mounting process.
can you see any "mount" error messages in dmesg ?

dmesg | grep mount
