Re: Dell Inspiron 1520 Wireless disappeared

Broadcom-wl (BCM 4312 Chipset) broken after update

http://www.fedoraforum.org/forum/sho...3&postcount=14

What does "systemctl status akmods.service" return?

What happens when you execute "systemctl enable akmods.service" and "systemctl start akmods.service"?

I also had problems with the latest kernel, but after I did that, it worked. The first reboot, it did not give me wireless, but after rebooting, the wireless was enabled and active again. It is something to try.

Before, when I tried, it was returning that it was not active. After enabling and starting, it returned this:

systemctl status akmods.service
akmods.service - Builds and install new kmods from akmod packages
Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/akmods.service; enabled)
Active: active (exited) since Fri, 22 Jun 2012 22:25:23 -0400; 11h ago
Main PID: 604 (code=exited, status=0/SUCCESS)
CGroup: name=systemd:/system/akmods.service

Jun 22 22:25:23 hostname.domainname akmods[604]: Checking kmods exist for 3.4.3-...]

Re: Dell Inspiron 1520 Wireless disappeared

Thank you so much for your time thus far. This is what I got;

[root@davis ~]# systemctl enable akmods.service
[root@davis ~]# systemctl start akmods.service
[root@davis ~]# service NetworkManager restart
Redirecting to /bin/systemctl restart NetworkManager.service
[root@davis ~]#

Still nothing

Do I need to reboot or just restart the network manager?

Boot the computer with an older kernel version (kernel-PAE-3.4.2-4.fc17.i686). It should work if there are no other issues.

If the wireless network still will not work even with an older kernel version, can you do a fresh install from the dvd or live cd, will there be any problems?

Colors,

That didn't work either. I don't really want to do a fresh install. I wonder if I could add an external wl adapter. I really want to find the fix.

Re: Dell Inspiron 1520 Wireless disappeared

It is possible to rollback the updates, i tested on my own computer with Fedora 17, so i think it's reliable enough.

First you must download an older kernel version for Fedora 17:

ftp://ftp.astral.ro/mirrors/fedora/p....fc17.i686.rpm

Then:

# yum history rollback 1

will reverse all your updates done after Fedora 17 installation.

Then:

# rpm -Uvh --oldpackage /path/to/kernel-PAE-3.3.4-5.fc17.i686.rpm

reboot and hope that you'll be back.

You must have a fresh installation of Fedora 17, don't do that if you have an upgrade from Fedora16.
