window selection preference

I've got two fairly new FC5 installations. I installed from the ISOs, updated the kernel, and installed the NVIDIA drivers. The System->Preferences->Windows "Select windows when the mouse moves over them" worked.

Then I installed the stuff from Fedorafaq, the mp3 players ( gstreamer-plugins-ugly, xmms-mp3, kdemultimedia-extras), and the Totem DVD player (totem-xine, libdvdcss, libdvdnav). Lastly, I installed yumex.

Now, no matter what the selection is in Window Preferences, I must click in each window to select it. I prefer the "Select windows when mouse moves over them" mode, which no longer works. I did not do regression testing when adding the packages with yum, so I really don't know which package screwed this up.

Both FC5 installations do this.

Any idea why or how to correct this? Has anyone else seen this behavior? I have searched here and haven't found a cause or solution.

My box is an HP Pavillion a1340n AMD64x2 running 2.6.16-1.2096_FC5.

Thanks,
Phil

Hmmm... No one has seen the case where windows are not selected by placing the mouse curson over them even when the "Select windows when the mouse moves over them" is checked?

"Doesn't select windows when mouse moves over them," doesn't select windows when mouse moves over them.

Thanks,
Phil

Sorry, never used that feature nor have I heard of a similar complaint. The best thing I can do (besides giving your thread another bump) is to suggest you file a Bugzilla on the matter and see if the developers have any ideas.
