Custom Hotkeys

Well, I searched the forums for this, and I came across this:

Now, the link to his Guide doesn't work anymore(it's dead). But I would really like to know how to set custom hotkeys under gnome, The keyboard config lacks support for customization and only comes with basic hotkeys. Any help would be much appreciated!

The regular keyboard shortcuts (under my FC4/Gnome box) are:
Desktop >> Preferences >> Keyboard Shortcuts.

Yes; I found out about this metacity hack last night, but it doesnt work the way I want it to. Even with the right keycodes pressing the multimedia keys wouldnt work! It did happen to work a few times but after awhile it did stop working and then it would not work all together!
