Network connection is working but cannot connect to the Internet

My computer is talking to the rest of my network but I am unable to connect to the Internet via Firefox. I have double checked the browser settings but haven't been able to fix the problem. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Have you checked "ifconfig" to see what settings you have?

Probably a DNS setting problem.

Is your gateway correct? (run 'route' to see)

Can you ping by IP outside your LAN? (ping 199.190.151.1 - DNS server of an ISP that'll answer pings)

Can you resolve names with nslookup? (nslookup www.fcc.gov - should be 192.104.54.3)

I had the same problem.. Are you connected through a Lan or dial up directly. It seemed to me that my windows DHCP (on another machine) was assigning ip to my FC5 machine and even though I was connecting the gprs modem to FC5 it was roaming around in circles. The moment I disconnected from the LAN it started working fine out..... Food for thought.....
