Angry nm-applet tray icon missing

Hi,

After playing around installing, erasing and reinstalling the NetworkManager app in order to get it working properly with FC5 and ipw2200, finally I got it but somehow in the process the nm-applet tray icon got erased ... I already tried erasing the autoconf file, erasing and re-installing the gnome-networkmanager (nm-applet), checking and erasing nm-applet.desktop left overs files, enabling and disabling the service from the gnome-session-properties app, but NOTHING works out, The "funny" thing is that the netwok manager seems to be working, if I unplug the eth0, it automatically connects to eth1 and a notifying message appears from the GNOME Start Menu, but the d@mn tray icon is totally invisible, and I am not able to select which wireless network I want to connect to... PLEASE HELP ME, I am going nuts with this thing and I don't wanna mess around with the core NetworkManager packages since it seems like they are finally working the way they are supposed to.

Thanx!!

Possible cause of the problem ...

Hey,

I didn't notice before that my gnome-power-manager icon was missing as well .... I tried to restart the program but it didn't show up ... I think it's some kind of common bug ... any ideas how to fix it??

Hey,

well ... shame on me .... I missed the notification area issue ... it seems to be working now .... so for loosing the whole afternoon in such a stupid way ... anyways, my advice in your case .... uninstall all rpms (the 3 rpms for NetworkManager) and your wirless driver, then fully install NM http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Tools/NetworkManager and then install your wireless card ... in my case it was ipw2200. Make sure to do it in that order, it may sound stupid but actually it was the only way I got it working ... installing first ipw2200 and then NM didn't work ... hope you make it. Thanks for the notification area tip ... actually I don't keep updated about the features of GNOME, so I didn't even knew it existed.

Hope it works for u!!
