Which Quickcam exactly? E.g. Logitech Quickcam Pro 3000.

Take it to a friends house and plug it into his computer. the right click on the my computer Icon, choose properties, then click the hardware tab, then the device manager button. Look for your logitech camera in there. It should give you the name and model of the camera. then you will have a place to start.

On Linux you can install the lsusb utilily (Fedora package: usbutils) and run and, while it's plugged in, see Logitech whatever.

I am using a Logitech Quickcam Express. I'm also trying to make it work with Linux, I also have a newer logitech, but I'd rather use the old lame one, cause it's just for once in awhile stuff.

I have a logitech quickcam pro 3000,
it uses the pwc module, but I've never gotten
the one bundled with the kernel to work recently
(or at least not with camstream which is a
real time camera viewer, with the kernel pwc I
only see a gray box where the image should be).
I did get the pwc at http://www.saillard.org/linux/pwc/ to work by compiling it
myself. Just make sure you get rid of the Fedora bundled pwc.ko
so depmod only finds your new one (it will be in a different
directory)
There's a mailing list at www.saillard.org, they seem to know
the bundled one is broken but they don't say why:
