Internet connection disconnects briefly with FC 5

Hello

I recently installed FC5 and have noticed that it briefly disconnects from the internet sometimes. It seems like I can only remain logged into MSN messenger or IRC for a maximum of five minutes before being disconnected. This is also a problem when I try to view web pages. I often find myself pressing Stop->Reload when I need to force a web page to load completely.

This is happening on a dual boot Fedora/XP machine and I don't have these problems while I'm using Windows.

Any suggestions of ways to resolve this would be greatly appreciated!

This usually happens because you have not filled in your DNS information correctly. My computer does this sometimes, too, and it always appears as though the connection was lost. But, it was actually just that the system could not get the hostname resolved to an IP address. If your DNS information is provided by DHCP, contact your internet provider. It could be a problem with their servers. I'm afraid my problem is with the network, though, and I have not found a solution yet.

i don't think it's a dns issue, it's something to do with some new default setting in the 2.6.17 kernels, the bug is discussed in this thread:
