I have a question on using yum or yumex.
I do install packages use yum and I also complie and install libraries from source. How can I let
yum or yumex know that some libraries are already installed so it will not complain about missing
For example the latest cairo library is 1.2 on the offical website but the yum repo installs 1.0.4. I had
1.2 installed on my system and don't want to overwrite it with 1.0.4. It seems that rpm or yum does not know the cairo 1.2 is installed.
It seems to be not as straight-forward to make custom rpm packages from source as configure, make, and make install
Anyone have idea please share. Thanks.
