firefox flash plugin

At this point, I have tried (and not yet succeeded) the following to get a flash plugin onto Firefox:

1: After downloading Gnash, running "su" and "./configure", "make" returned the following error:
/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lXmu
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status

I don't know what -lXmu means, but /usr/bin/ld does exist.

2: At some point, I tried all of the following for nspluginwrapper:
/usr/lib/nspluginwrapper/x86_64/npconfig -i /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libflashplayer.so
/usr/lib/nspluginwrapper/x86_64/npconfig -v -a -i
/usr/lib/nspluginwrapper/x86_64/npconfig -v -a -u
Compiling linux32 and using it to run the three above commands
Copying all of the plugins to any folder that Firefox might look in for plugins

I think that "~" means "home directory". Please say so if I'm wrong.
