ldd can not find a static library

Hello,

I have a problem with ldd using ... i dont understand ...

using ldd with an executable, my system shows

bash$> ldd xs
xs needs:
/usr/lib/threads/libc.a(shr.o)
<...>
./libxsgui.a
./libxsvol.a
Cannot find ./libirm.a
./libxsnx.a
./libfxpr.a
Cannot find ./libxsgmp.a
./libeqpmc.a
./libeqpde.a
./libxscv.a
/unix

umm, i was surprised, because, libirm.a and libxsgmp.a exist in the same directory

bash$>ls -lrt libirm.a
-rwxr-xr-- 1 as as 212417 Oct 10 2003 libirm.a

and the same for libxsgmp.a

LD_LIBRARY_PATH contains "." actual directory.

is it correct ?

why does it occurs?

thank you
